It’s here! The City of Colorado Springs, in partnership with Greener Corners, will launch our public space recycling program with a celebration event on Earth Day, Friday, April 22.

The public space recycling program will begin with 60 new combination trash and recycle bins in the core downtown area and 90 bins throughout seven of the City’s large community parks and sports complexes. Greener Corners, a full-service public space recycling and environmental organization, will provide, install and maintain the recycling stations at no cost to the City or taxpayers. Advertisements sold by Greener Corners will be placed on the recycle bins in order to cover the cost of the recycling program and earn additional revenue for the City. Come celebrate a GREENER Colorado Springs!

Recycling bins to be placed throughout city

It’s a program that creates both jobs and revenue for the city, as well as increases its profile as a green community.

Colorado Springs is launching its public space recycling program on Earth Day, Friday, April 22.

The program is a partnership with Greener Corners, a full-service public space recycling and environmental organization.

Recycling Bins Now In City Parks

In honor of Earth Day, the city has installed 160 new trash and recycling bins throughout the Colorado Springs. It’s all part of a new initiative to make Colorado Springs “green!”

The Public Space Recycling Program kicked off Friday and will come at no cost to the city or taxpayers. Sixty new combination trash and recycle bins in the core downtown area and 90 bins throughout seven of the city’s large community parks and sports complexes, including Acacia Park, Memorial Park, Palmer Park, Goose Gossage Sports Complex, Leon Young Sports Complex, Skyview Sports Complex, and the parking lot at Red Rock Canyon are being installed.

The city of Colorado Springs and Greener Corners today launched a public space recycling program that will create four new jobs and won’t cost taxpayers any money.

“The public space recycling program, which will be implemented at no cost to the city or taxpayers, will begin with 60 new combination trash and recycle bins in the core downtown area and 90 bins throughout seven of the city’s large community parks and sports complexes,” the city said in a press release.

Remember when the city was buzzing about “partnerships” a couple years ago?

Back then, Colorado Springs paid tens of thousands to the California-based Active Network, with the understanding that the company could help the city bring in millions through corporate sponsorships and partnerships. (Think naming rights, and exclusive deals for everything from soft drink machines to computer purchases.)
